市议员：不是全面改革，但必须行动

多位议员强调，本次修订并非对官方社区规划的全面改革，相关工作仍在进行。

议员 Shervin Shahriari 表示：“我们是否在社区关切、开发可行性与省府要求之间找到了完美平衡？只有时间能证明。但我们必须在期限与目标下行动。希望这些改变能让我们的孩子与家庭继续留在我们所爱的社区”。

他补充说：“我们需要密度，也需要行动。做点事，总比什么都不做好”。

唯一投反对票的议员 Tony Valente 表示，他的反对是为了抗议省府未给予城市足够时间进行更多公众咨询。

市长 Linda Buchanan 亦批评省府以强制方式要求市府增加住房，并呼吁高级政府应承担起兴建必要基础设施的财政责任。她同时指出，尽管有人认为改革力度仍不足，但这仍是朝解决住房需求迈出的谨慎一步。

“每一户新建成的住房背后，都有真实的人、有家庭、有故事”。她说，“我们听到了许多工作者只想住在工作地点附近，而不是在遥远的郊区通勤数小时；也有在本地养大孩子的家长，希望他们的子女与孙辈仍能在这里生活”。

这项改革或将成为北温应对住房危机的又一步关键尝试。

you can\'t be more wrong. NIMBY is natural, existing residence gains very little when densitify happens. They have no reason to support this. And due to the unique location of N. Van, steps aways from city and nature, demands can not be higher. I would say half Canadian would want to live here if possible. Even with density, the price won\'t be low. Without it, it will through the roof and only those who is already here benefit. Build, at least more would enjoy it. 赞踩 1 回复 0

We may have experiences from traffic congestion. The governments built newer and wider highways due to traffic congestion on older and narrower highways. At the beginning, all drivers were super happy enjoying much smoother traffic. Over the time, more and more drivers came to those highways. The traffic congestion came back again with much bigger scales. After that, drivers started to avoid those highways again. Most of measures taken by the governments are political motivated due to the pressure from voters. People look for affordable housing. It is reasonable. However, it is not always a good idea to build more houses or units. The markets will adjust themselves when the prices are too high to be affordable. People will move to communities where housings are more affordable. The prices will go down once demands become less. Vice versa. It is a dynamic equilibrium. 赞 5 踩 2 回复 1
