中东战火升温，最新消息指出，伊朗已在战略要地荷莫兹海峡（Strait of Hormuz）开始布设海军水雷，引发国际关注。而根据美国国会去年发布的报告，伊朗估计拥有多达5,000至6,000枚水雷。
据《CNN》报导，2025年6月伊朗、以色列与美国之间为期12天的冲突之后，美国国会发布一份报告，内容探讨该次冲突对石油与天然气市场的影响，特别是在荷莫兹海峡运输中断的背景下。
报告指出，2019年时外界认为德黑兰拥有超过5,000枚海军水雷。到2025年的估计显示，这一数量略有增加，约达6,000枚，并点出伊朗持有多种类型的水下武器，包括吸附式水雷（limpet mines）、系留式水雷（moored mines）、底部水雷（bottom mines）。

消息人士向《CNN》表示，伊朗已开始在荷莫兹海峡布设水雷，目前布雷规模尚不广泛，最近几天仅布设数十枚。然而，其中一名消息人士表示，伊朗仍保有其80%至90%的小型船只与布雷能力，技术上可于该水道布设数百枚水雷。
美国总统唐纳.川普（Donald Trump）周二在真实社群（Truth Social）上发文表示：“如果伊朗已在荷莫兹海峡布设了任何水雷，虽然我们目前没有这样的报告，我们要求他们移除，立刻移除”，并称若德黑兰不这么做，将会面临“军事后果”。
